About the Event
In the Aeneid, Vergil relates how the ill-fated Queen Dido ends her life on a funeral pyre. Her ruin, and the challenge of destiny faced by Aeneas, inspired numerous composers from the Renaissance to the present day. Their musical treatments underpin a program exploring how Vergil has inspired composers across centuries and continents, and are complemented by settings from his other epics, the Eclogues and the Georgics.
There is ample parking, both on the street and in the covered parking garage off of Washington. The main entrance to the building is on Trinity, with a circular drive to drop passengers off. There are accessible bathrooms on the first floor, and an elevator and stairs to the auditorium. The seats are cushioned for comfort.
